Founded in 1872 by ten forward thinking women at Syracuse University, Alpha Phi is now one of the oldest and largest women's fraternities in North America.

The Eta Lambda chapter of George Mason was colonized in 1988, and is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in October of 2013.  Since 1988, the Eta Lambda chapter has won many awards for excellence in Philanthropy, Leadership, and Service.

As one of Alpha Phi's core values, sisterhood is a key part of what makes Eta Lambda so special to us.  Sisterhood binds us to one another through fidelity and cooperation.  As stewards of our sorority, Alpha Phi entrusts us to uphold integrity of our organization as well as of each of its members.  Alpha Phi strives for the pursuit of excellence, as well as the promotion of loyalty and leadership of its members.  Our sisterhood has been able to achieve excellence over the years, as we promote our members to be individually unique, yet together complete.

In order to recognize the accomplishments of our sisters and to bring our chapter membership together, Alpha Phi holds several sisterhood retreats.  In addition, the chapter membership selects a "Fabulous Phi" each Friday in order to celebrate the accomplishments our members. This past year, Alpha Phi hosted a number of fun events for sisters.  We took a cruise across the Potomac River, welcomed the Miami Heat onto the court before a Wizards game, and went hiking at Great Falls Park.

In addition, Alpha Phi often holds informational sessions, or program meetings, for sisters.  Whether its a resume building workshop or a Kick Boxing class, sisters find a way to make the meetings a great time.  Alpha Phi’s marketing team even helped sponsor a Victoria's Secret PINK party last year!
